Hello everybody,

it really seems to be time to get heard again in the web. At least with a small statement. Well everything looks fine at the moment. I had a good time the last months after my wedding and now I think everything gets normalized again. So what about BeaGTex? Any important news? Well there are news!

First of all the number of downloads. In August the magic number of 300 downloads has been reached for BeaGTex 1.3. That’s really good news, isn’t it? Well this fact is really great. But you and I know, BeaGTex is not perfect yet. There is still a lot of work to do. And this work will be done!

I’m really pleased, I can announce a new Version of BeaGTex: BeaGTex 1.4. This version will be realeased in late 2008 or early 2009. The work is just begining. I’m sure you all are very curious about the new features. Well you’ll get informed from time to time 🙂 But you can expect BeaGTex to become more international. It’s planed to release version 1.4 also in French, additional to German and English.

Well that’s it for the moment.

More to come in the next weeks 🙂

Let’s see how far I come …

News after a long time …

February 27, 2008

Well, first of all I’m really sorry for publishing so few news of my project. BeaGTex isn’t dead, but the the amount of free-time has gotten realy small after releasing version 1.3. More and more features are in the que waiting to be implemented. Unfortunately my job really is a little stressy at the moment, because there are several deadlines for my projects. And of course there is another important change in my life that you may be interested in. Im going to marry in April, so for the next weeks there won’t be too much time i can use to improve BeaGTex. But thats good news anyway isn’t it? 🙂

After explaining all this there’s one really inspiring fact: The number of downloads. It’s really unbelievable for me, seeing BeaGTex 1.3 downloaded more then 50 times every month. It seems BeaGTex 1.3 is the most popular version I ever produced (more than 160 downloads since released!!!). Seems like you all like it 🙂

So a great THANK YOU to all my helpers and of course to you all, using my editor. Seeing this interest one thin is sure: BeaGTex will be improved more and more.

Let’s see how far I come …

Handling Maven, preparing new release

November 12, 2007

In the meantime i had the chance to take a closer look into `Maven. To build BeaGTex Version 1.3 with Maven, there are still some little things to do. Unfortunately there won’t be enough time to get into all those JUnit-Tests, before the new release. So I had to find a way to get Maven building my project without the testing-phase. Otherwise there would appear many test-errors, which logically avoid a proper build. Well I found the Maven-plugin for this and arranged it the way I need it. Now I can switch on the tests for normal working and developing, and switch it of for building the new version. If everything fits, version 1.3 will be released this week.

I also tested the new funktion (of course the old too!) as good as possible. Everything seems to work properly. In the new version it will be possible to fit in marginal notes an cross-references via the (context-) menu. Maybe there is anybody out there just waiting for this? Well I know that new funktions are just peanuts, but hey, it’s one further step to the great goal of a complete and user-friendly LaTex-editor.

There’s still a long way to go.
Let’s see how far I come 🙂
